At Tuesday’s Genesee Area Conference meet, the boys took eighth with 223 and the girls were unable to place as a team. Christian Downer was sixth to lead the boys in 18:18.33, Dallas Haubenstricker was 22nd in 20:25.32 and with a personal record was Eric Rieman in 25th in 20:47.48.

The girls were led by Sydney Malin in 21st in 27:03.63 and Brianna Haubenstricker was 26th in 28:17.81.

The Bendle boys placed fourth with 100 at the Genesee County Meet at Cummings Center in Mt. Morris on Saturday and the girls didn’t have enough runners to place as a team. Malin led the girls in 19th in 25:08.93, Brittani Wray was 25th in 27:09.27 and Brianna Washington was 27th in 27:26.41.

Downer was the leading boy in 20th in 18:03.14, Haubenstricker was 34th in 19:03.72. Reiman was 94th in 21:52.80, Jayden Compton 96th in 22:08.51, Casey Wilkinson 115th in 24:06.58 and Wesley Kimball 120th in 25:40.65. — B.P.


The Hornets ran in the Genesee Invite on Saturday in Mount Morris. The boys’ team finished fifth out of six teams with a score of 133. Raydoffa Braziel was the fastest Hornet, finishing at 19:15 in 38th place. Tre’Ron Griffin followed at 19:34 in 49th overall. Kyle Palka and Bailey Palmer also broke 20, running 19:46 and19:48, respectively.

The girls’ team had only three runners and therefore could not place as a team. Brooklynn Dever led the Hornets with 24:36, good for 27th overall. Freshman Alexis Jones followed at 25:26. Ava Kelsey finished in 25:54. —J.O.



At the Frankenmuth Tournament on Monday, the Hornets came in eighth with a 393. The leading scorer was Grace Hoffman with 85, Elise Pariseau shot a 100, Emma Bishoff and Gabby Ropp both put up 104s and with a 115 was Lauren Pariseau.

The Lady Hornets took down Linden last Wednesday at the Flint Elks Club, 189-204. Leading Kearsley was Hoffman with a 41, Bishoff shot a 45, Elise Pariseau added a 47 and Ropp a 56. — B.P.



The Lady Hornets competed in the Fenton Tigers Relays on Saturday, placing 13th out of 14 teams. Farmington Hills Mercy was first with 306, Brighton was second with 286 and Grand Blanc was third with 222. Fenton scored 204, Hartland 198, Saginaw Heritage 190, Howell 162 and White Lake Western 146. Bay City Western was ninth with 118, Flint Powers scored 102, Swartz Creek/Flushing 36, Davison 34 and Holly 10.

Kearsley’s highest finish of the day was a 10th in the 200 freestyle. Kearsley managed one 10th-place finish, four 11th-place finishes, one 12th-place and one 14th-place.

Kearsley faces Owosso on Tuesday and competes in the Genesee County Championship Sept. 21-23 at Fenton. — K.R.
