Fish fry

FLINT — The public is welcome to attend a fish fry held from 4:30-7:30 p.m. every Friday at VFW Post 822, G-5065 S. Saginaw Street. Cod, walleye and shrimp dinners will be available, with choice of fries or onion rings. The dinner also includes homemade salad bar, soup, desserts and coffee. Senior Activity Center Consumer fraud advocate

BURTON — The Burton Senior Activity Center offers a consumer fraud advocate from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. Thursdays, at 3410 South Grand Traverse. Jo Luft, a trained consumer fraud advocate, will be at the center to assist with consumer complaints. Those interested can walk in or make an appointment by calling the center at 744-0960. — T.T.

Hot Fudge 5K Run & Walk

BURTON — The Burton Kiwanis Club presents its 6th Annual Burton Kiwanis Hot Fudge 5K Run & Walk, with packet pick up and new registrations offered noon to 5 p.m. Feb. 16 at Complete Runner, 915 S. Dort Hwy., Flint. Races start at noon Feb. 17 at Bentley Middle School, 1180 N. Belsay Road, Burton. Participants get pineapples, strawberries, grapes and other assorted fruit skewers, with melted fudge from Michigan’s Greatest Fudge, as well as a bowl of chili from Texas Roadhouse. Genesee District Library Animal workshop

BURTON — The Burton Memorial Library will host Ribbet, It’s Cold Outside at 2 p.m. Feb. 17. Participants will learn where snakes, frogs and turtles go in the winter at this hibernation-centered, hands-on animal workshop. Details: call 810-742-0674. — T.T.

Knee-High Naturalist

BURTON — For Mar Nature Preserve and Arboretum offers its Knee-High Naturalist: Changes program, Feb 22 at 2142 Genesee Road. Children ages 3-6 are will be invited to explore metamorphosis, such as that of a butterfly, thought the Changes game during the program. The cost to participate is $3 per student.
