Photo by Austin VanDaele TRAVERSE CITY – The Kearsley girls’ golf team entered yesterday’s regional, which occurred after deadlines, facing some stiff competition. The Lady Hornets had a decent season with a 4-4 finish in the Flint Metro League, but the level of play always picks up when the postseason arrives.

The regional took place at Grand Traverse Resort’s Spruce Run Golf Course, hosted by Traverse City Central. Aside from the hosts and the Hornets, also competing were Alpena, Bay City Western, Bay City Central, Flushing, Midland, Midland Dow, Mt. Pleasant, Petoskey and Swartz Creek. The top three individuals and top three teams not on a qualifying team will qualify for the Div. 2 state finals. None of the teams competing are currently listed in the Div. 2 state rankings.

Emma Bishoff has a good chance to advance, having shot an 88 at the recent Genesee County Tournament. The rest of the team will need to pick it up a bit to move on. At the same tournament, Brooklyn Smith had a 118, Trivianna Shepherd shot a 123 and Chiny Miles a 131.
